Job Title: NPI Project Manager

Purpose
Build awareness of company innovation roadmaps and bridge into Strategic Procurement.
Define Sourcing strategies for Technology and NPI programs aligned to Category strategies, delivering robust production solutions and target costs.
Ensure component availability during development phases to achieve project stage-gate milestones. Project manage component qualification to required timescales and ensure smooth transition to production readiness.
Scope
* Managing complex new product introduction projects and multiple stakeholders
* Able to understand Technical concepts and apply/deploy into supply base
* Awareness of divisional innovation roadmaps and procurement category strategies, ability to align and influence
* Close working relationship with peers in Engineeting, Category Managment and Supplier Quality
* Interaction skills are critical with internal and external stakeholders
Main Responsibilities
Technology/NPI Supply strategy
* Maintain awareness of current and future project supply requirements, ensuring category strategies are aligned/evolved as required
* Define supply strategy for all parts through stage gate phases of NPI projects, ensuring selected suppliers are aligned with category strategies and will ultimately provide robust production solution
Early supplier engagement
* Engage with suppliers early in the development cycle and facilitate open and collaborative discussions and R&D
* Ensure Design for Manufacture concepts are adopted for manufacturability and optimised prodcution costs
Benchmarking and supplier selection
* Manage RFQ process
* Part price negotiation and any bespoke terms not covered by existing Agreements
IP Management
* Working with Category Management and Legal ensure NDA and suitable collaboration agreements in place as required
NPI Project management and part availability
* Accountable for supplier QCD performance through sampling
* Tracking and reporting progress throughout the project; including supplier selection, quoting, sample delivery, qualification, costs etc
* Raising sample POs and resolving any invoice queries
Part qualification
* Working with SQE ensure specifications are well defined and realistic
* Define and agree qualification/FAI requirements with Supplier, Engineering, SQE
* Working with SQE ensure supplier production and inspection/test processes are stable, capable and repeatable
* Ensure supplier provides all necessary data/deliverables to achieve FAI
* Manage record retention for FAI
Part cost Management
* Ensure part costs are understood and cost breakdowns provided
* Negotiation as required to achieve reasonable product costs and project expectations
* 3 year cost down trajectory agreed (Atlas Copco CC7)
* Component cost tracking to monitor/minimise price deviations from quote
Equipment & Tooling management
* Negotiate costs and settlement terms
* Raise PO sand invoice payment approvals
* Ensure Equipment Loan Agreement signed
* Equipment is capitalised according to Product Company finance procedures
Production readiness
* Supplier capacities, flex and readiness to ramp assured
* Lead times and agility aligned to business requirements
* Long term cost trajectory agreed
* Integration into production systems and seamless transition to operational procurement
Requirements:
* Minimum 7 years procurement experience preferably in a manufacuring or engineering environment.
* 2 years experience in project buying, category management or strategic sourcing
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or business management, ideally with professional procurement or project management qualification
* Track record managing complex, multiple workstream projects
* Ideally background in a Technology/Innovation environment, able to grasp Technical concepts and comfortable working with Scientists and Engineers
* Familiarity with broad range of procurement categories and Technology
* Experience in negotiating sourcing and supply contracts
* Excellent communication skills across all levels of an organisation, both internally and with suppliers
* Willingness to travel as when the business conditions and strategies require
