What you will get to do!!

The Public Affairs Assistant in support of MVM’s client will provide media relations support.  Requires strong organization skills, experience in external affairs work or with law enforcement and knowledge of working with media outlets.  Also, must be highly detail oriented and have a positive disposition and "can-do" approach.


  • Assist in facilitate the development of strategies and work to implement activities for the US Attorney’s Office


  • Draft press releases, quotes and research responses to media inquiries along with coordinating press conferences, meetings and background materials to prep US Attorney Officials


  • Participate in planning and implementation of district programs and initiatives


  • Maintain calendar of projected press releases and media events


  • Monitor and update the client’s website in accordance with DOJ media relations


  • Monitor and maintain social media and public affairs email account


  • Other duties as required


What you will need to have!!


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (college and/or certificate preferred); experience may be substituted for education


  • Up to three (3) professional references that can provide past performance information is REQUIRED


  • Two years of experience in public affairs or related work


  • Experience working with local print, radio and television media outlets


  • Audiovisual experience to include video editing and photography


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)


  • Ability to meet and communicate in a courteous and tactful manner


  • Attention to detail


  • Ability to read and follow directions


  • Good oral communications


  • Local to the Houston, TX area


  • Ability to travel to Washington, DC for training purposes


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong writing skills and knowledge of AP format


  • Preferred experience with Adobe products such as PhotoShop, INDesign and more


  • Preferred background in working with law enforcement and/or prosecutors


Candidates that do not meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered.

Security Requirements:


  • U.S. Citizenship


  • Resided in the U.S at least 3 of the past 5 years.


  • Must be able to obtain a law enforcement sensitive background check and possess credit in good standing.
