The overall purpose of this position is to support business data gathering, reporting, analysis and provide customer support (internal and external) from a variety of business data systems. The incumbent is primarily responsible for business data and product reports including data entry, data validation, data cleansing and analysis of data quality; and contracts administration. The role typically reports to a Senior Manager and manages no direct reports. This position works under consultative direction.
This position supports the data for new product and service opportunities and management of existing products, services, and business systems. The Standards Business Data Coordinator must be detail oriented and data driven. Must be a fast learner and agile as will need to understand and use data from all areas of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Product and Services Data Support 40%
Supports and maintains the gathering, reporting and analysis of the SA products and services data including use, user and financial data from a variety of business systems.
Supports data gathering and analysis for the development of work and operation planning for new product and service development.
Support data gathering and reporting for financial data and documentation, including for: profit and loss statements, strategic assessments, development project status reports, etc.
Works with market/strategic research teams to develop data and analyze data for new and ongoing projects.
Supports the development of operations planning and marketing with data gathering and analysis support and data operations design support.
Supports Product Reports
Provides regular and ad-hoc product and user reporting
Monitors and reports Product revenue and sales data
Provides regular reports to the team on performance, by product
Provides data analysis of the performance
Coordinates plan adjustments to data operation across the business, as needed
Business & Product Systems Data Analysis/Maintenance and User Testing 30%
Monitors daily product data error reports; investigating/troubleshooting issues
Verifies product data in multiple source databases and in reports
Performs user testing against Business Requirements
Maintains IEEE SA Product database (includes data entry and audits for data accuracy)
Supports the compilation of data files, in preparation for electronic delivery
Develops and delivers canned data reports using Business Intelligence application
Acts as a resource to all database users in order to assure consistency and accuracy of data.
Customer support 20%
Provides exceptional service to customers, volunteers, content providers/partners, distributors and IEEE Organizational Units utilizing the IEEE Knowledge-Base/Customer Contact system by responding to information (data) requests or referring the request to the appropriate contact.
Management Support 10%
Provides data for IEEE-SA Financial planning support for the Product Team
To include Monthly Forecasts for applicable accounts
To include support of budgeting activities for applicable accounts
Provides data in support of developing pricing structure and maintenance of product, service, too cost data
Supports contracting process for external vendors responsible for new and existing products/services/tools
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or business systems management or the equivalent professional experience
2-4 years in product, service or financial data administration and reporting
2-4 years customer service support experience
Experience with database systems data entry, validation and grooming
Data analysis course work or experience
Skills & Other Requirements:
Ability to use a variety of database systems via user interface
Understanding of relational database principles – data normalization, data types, relationships, keys
Experience with Business Intelligence tools and reporting
Experience with product/service financial data and reporting
Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in MS Excel
Ability to understand business needs and retrieve appropriate and report on data from business applications
Ability to perform user management on business applications
Ability to respond to customer request for data from business applications or refer to appropriate contact in department.
Ability to anticipate business issues and needs and prepare appropriate data reports and data operation plans.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively, diplomatically and positively with volunteers, customers, vendors and IEEE staff
Ability to write and prepare materials for plans, needs requirements and reporting

Physical/Mental Demands
Office positions at IEEE are performed within an office environment whose duties are primarily performed behind a desk at an IEEE location. Employees in these positions frequently operate a computer, read and write, and interact with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. They move about within the facility in which their office is located to access file cabinets, documents, office machinery, and other equipment. They also travel within the facility in which their office is located and to locations outside of the facility, to attend meetings, trainings, events, and other business activities.
Persons in these positions frequently lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 10 lbs. They also occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.
