Director Engineering Service at Essendant Management Services LLC in Deerfield, Illinois

Scope:

Budget – direct budget responsibility for capital projects that can be as high as $18mm.

Purchasing – is the final decision maker on capital equipment and building investment that can total $10-15mm annually.

Major Responsibilities

• Serves as Project Manager for capital investment projects in new as well as existing distribution centers. Leads the design, implementation and start up of facility projects. Is the final decision maker on purchasing capital equipment. Responsible for developing project schedule and delivering results on time.


• Evaluates the new technologies around material handling equipment and warehousing processes.


• Provides analysis and solutions to improve operational productivity and space utilization at the distribution centers. Responds to facility requests for assistance in addressing operational issues and challenges.


• Works with landlords and local facility management on Tenant Improvement activities


• Develops budgets and economic analysis for proposed capital improvement projects.


• Manages associates, processes, budgets, performance management, compliance, activities and associate development.


• Understands and demonstrates Essendant’s Core Values.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Required

• Strong knowledge of warehousing technologies, design, construction and operations.


• Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar project budgets with cross-functional supporting team members. Strong influencing skills.


• Excellent cross functional collaboration and communication skills.


• Excellent project management skills and leading cross-functional project teams.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with experience working in a distribution/warehousing environment. MBA desired.


• 10-15 years experience and proven track record in managing large scale new facility projects.


• Strong project management experience, with an emphasis in managing large scale, facility projects.


• Strong proficiency in MS Office and Project; comfortable with AutoCAD (blueprint support).
