Franklin Medical Center is a step down facility with a hospital like setting for offenders from correctional facilities across the state of Ohio that require medical care. It also has many specialty clinics and offers long term and short term care for both male and female offenders.
The Job Opportunity and Duties…
- Administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications
- Performs treatments
- Assists with Doctor’s Sick Call as indicated
- Assists with nursing management of chronic care clinics
- Responds to emergencies
- Provides emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as indicated
- Performs subjective and objective data collection of patients as indicated
- Collects vital signs and timely documents all findings
- Collects urine or other body fluid specimens when indicated
- Prepares patents for release or transfer to other facilities (intrasystem or out to court) by reviewing patient care, completing Intrasystem Transfer Summaries or Release Summaries
- Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services
- Participates in work-related training and all institution training exercises as assigned
- Provides assistance to other healthcare staff
- Investigates and documents problem areas or areas of concern
- Reviews shift report from preceding shift(s)
- Assists physicians with medical procedures; assumes duties of other nurses during absences
- Counsels/provides education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities
- Performs administrative duties as indicated
- Attends meetings
- Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings
- Performs or assists with inventory and ordering or medical supplies

Assists ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met - Must work overtime as required
License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code & proof of completion of an approved course in medication administration. Note: Licensed Practical Nurses who administer dialysis treatment must possess Certification in IV Therapy pursuant to Section 4723.17 Ohio Revised Code.
