What you will do
 

Reporting to the Director of Construction Sales for the Fire business, this key role will be responsible for elevating the demand for JCI Fire products in the Specifying Engineering Community for new construction projects. The individual will be capable of managing relationships with top specifying firms regionally and nationally, as well as enabling coverage of local specifiers through front line construction sellers. This role will also support the sales process and pursuit of large strategic projects in the pipeline from a technical positioning and differentiation standpoint. 

Using industry construction and market analytical data the Sales Engineer will identify local markets, A&E firms and Design Build Contractors with the greatest potential for growth and establish a plan in conjunction with the Area and local market leaders for growing “Specshare” of Simplex Branded product. He or she will then take the lead in supporting the local market reps in their assigned areas by leading and coaching the sales teams on the strategies, product differentiation, methodology and activities that successfully support the specifying engineers. This role will work closely with the newly established Commercial Construction Sales Leaders to define critical metrics, measure individual area and rep performance against targets and support specific fire protection industry events as necessary to grow awareness and market share of Simplex Branded fire alarm product. Ultimate success will be measured by increased “Specshare” of Simplex product as well as market share growth. 

This position requires a detailed oriented individual with a Technical and Sales background capable of not only calling on top specifying engineers directly, but coaching other reps on the process as well. They must have a problem solver mentality and have experience in field of construction. They will also work with the Fire domain and products leadership team to design and execute strategic initiatives to position the company’s products and services for future growth and profitability. The successful candidate will leverage influential leadership skills and organizational agility to drive change in practice and process within their assigned areas.

  • Diverse solution expertise across FIRE business and product lines

  • Design built expertise

  • National Fire Code Experience

  • NICET Certification II or Higher preferred

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings to diverse audiences

  • Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years proficiency in design and implementation of all types of integrated systems projects.

  • Ability to travel 60% to customer and branch locations.
