Mortgage/Retail Loan Processor I/II at SECURITY FINANCIAL BANK in Eau Claire, Wisconsin

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the Bank’s mortgage and retail lending functions and is responsible for the management of the physical and electronic loan credit and collateral files. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining and safekeeping of credit and collateral files, maintaining an accurate tickler system to assure timely and complete document recordings, collecting current insurance policies, filing documents accurately in the correct loan files and processing paid loans. This position works directly with customers and staff answering questions, inquiries, and advancing funds in a timely and professional manner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  1. Utilize loan processing software to create required loan documents. Create mortgage and retail loan files and ensure that all loan documents are identified and properly categorized.

  2. Update and maintain mortgage and retail loan files in examination ready quality at all times. Communicate with the Mortgage and Personal Bankers to ensure that all required documentation is received for the loan files.

  3. Order title policies, appraisals and other necessary documentation for loans as required.

  4. Report monthly to FHLB and Freddie Mac on outstanding loan balances, payments received and payoffs.

  5. Monitor loan to value of loans with mortgage insurance, eliminating the mortgage insurance when the loan balance is at 80% loan to value.

  6. Maintain loans through file maintenance functions, loan renewal processing, processing loan payments and advances, mailing loan notices, etc.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  1. Communicate with customers that have questions, problems or need funds advanced.

  2. Maintains educational and professional expertise through attendance at job-related seminars, conferences and workshops and involvement in professional, civic and community groups in leadership positions.

  3. Other duties as may be assigned.

Education


  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience


  • 2-4 years experience in mortgage/retail loan processing preferred

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to interact with customers and employees positively with tact, diplomacy and confidentiality

  • Ability to make timely decisions in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

  • Thorough knowledge/understanding of legal and regulatory matters and industry trends

  • Performs all duties with accuracy

  • Thoroughness and timeliness of services provided to internal and external customers

  • Effectiveness of communications and development of good working relationships with co-workers, subordinates and customers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Work is performed largely within the Bank with limited chance for personal injury.  Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration required.  Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines.  Work hours are generally during normal business hours.  Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees. 

  • Regular and routine travel between offices is required and out-of-town/overnight business travel may be required.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment.  Some bending, turning, and twisting required.

  • Serves as a representative of the organization at appropriate functions.
