Job Summary
Under limited direction of the Underwriting Manager, evaluate loan decisions in accordance with the established underwriting policy and guidelines. Analyze tax returns, financial statements, credit reports, business reports and legal documents. Calculate the necessary ratios to assist in the decision process. Maintain quality credit decisions and turnaround time. Assist with ongoing training of the lender on all loan products and credit fundamentals. Implement loan file review processes and procedures that reconcile operational policies with HMDA-reporting, FCRA, and Reg B requirements, to maintain an acceptable level of regulatory compliance based on criteria set forth by Residential Lending Compliance and Corporate Compliance Services. Monitor, test and report on the effectiveness of these processes. Provide regulatory change support to the Residential Lending business line through various reporting activities.

Job Accountabilities

• Review credit applications on various types of loans; analyze applicant’s financial status, credit and property evaluation, corporate tax returns, personal tax returns, personal financial statements, credit reports, business reports and legal documents. Maintain a review and monitoring program that adheres to underwriting guidelines, HMDA-reporting, FCRA, and Reg B requirements. The review program will include testing, validation, root cause determination, and metric tracking and reporting.


• Proactively seek solutions with lenders from all business lines to ensure application structuring and loan product choices are compliant with current policies and procedures. Aid in resolution of any application issues in an effective manner, mutually benefiting the customer and Bank.


• Maintain general familiarity with compliance laws, regulatory requirements, and underwriting guidelines to ensure the effectiveness of department policies, procedures, and initiatives.


• Maintain up to date knowledge of current Underwriting policies, guidelines and compliance issues using available resources. Including all lending related Federal and State regulations.


• Effectively implement department policies and procedures to noted exceptions, issues or findings from Corporate Compliance reviews, Residential Lending Compliance reviews, or external regulatory examinations.

Education

• Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Finance or business related field Required

• 2-4 years Underwriting and lending products, policies and procedures, with an emphasis in mortgage/consumer compliance. Required

Responsible for reporting suspicious activity to Financial Intelligence. Responsible to report all customer complaints as prescribed and procedure violations to management or HR.
