Job Description
Position Summary
To assist the Director with assigned aspects of the day to day operations.
Responsibilities

Lead a culture of Health and Safety across the production department that strives beyond compliance and is proactive, embedded and understood
Ensure we have engaged viticulture teams at all levels through effective recruitment and retention
Drive leadership and people development across the department through performance and talent management, succession planning and focused development activities.
Organize staff in daily work programs as requested by supervisor.
Responsible for effective day to day use of resources.
Responsible for the creation and implementation of a schedule to monitor individual block performance and highlight issues.
Successful business relationships are in place with key third parties including current and prospective FLC, consultants etc.
Maintain a successful working relationship with FLC
Ensure activities are recorded daily, up to date and within prescribed programs as assigned.
Balance the multi-site environment with competing stakeholder demands whilst ensuring all short- and long-term targets are met or exceeded.
Ensure the department’s labor utilization is maximized; people structures are appropriate, and teams are trained and engaged. Ensure strategies covers peak and non-peak work periods.
Develop, manage and continually improve viticulture capability to meet current and future business requirements, ensuring compliance standards are met or exceeded in relation to workplace standards, EH&S, quality and environmental sustainability.
Ensure all legislative and CBI compliance standards are met or exceeded in relation to workplace standards, EH&S, quality standards and environmental sustainability.
Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that all grape demand & quality has the required characteristics
In conjunction with the Director, formulate and implement technical programs as required to meet the grape quality parameters for the company
Prepare, manage the annual regional operational and capital budgets for the vineyards to ensure the department functions within budget and in the most cost-effective manner
Manage the annual harvest planning and logistics
Assist with associated invoice control and record keeping
Coordinate/Assist in managing the spray program. This may include writing work orders, ensure adherence to spray intervals, scheduling equipment, purchasing materials, communicating with neighbors and winemakers regarding reentry intervals.
Provide analysis, reporting and adherence to EHS policy across the vineyards.
In coordination with the Vineyard Director, define Irrigation programs and ensure subsequent work orders prepared
Provide support to the vineyard management staff by ensuring they adhere to all regulatory record keeping requirements.
Execute assigned daily harvest responsibilities.
Ensure all HR and compliance programs are adhered to by yourself and staff under your supervision as instructed by your supervisor.
Ensure CBI is a cost effective, quality producer by constantly evaluating viticultural processes and equipment, and seeking continuous improvement
In association with Manager, manage staff under your control in a positive manner, providing feedback via the CBI appraisal process.
Provide support to the vineyard management staff by ensuring they adhere to all regulatory record keeping requirements.
Support and suggest implementation of best practices and refine existing process through application of Continuous Improvement principles
Lead and embed Continuous Improvement thinking throughout viticulture
Manage the department’s key business performance metrics and targets through effective and appropriate measurement, reporting and ongoing analysis
Maintain industry expertise and required licensing as needed
Implement property and machinery maintenance programs to maximize useful life of company assets
Any other duties as reasonably required
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of viticulture experience
Exposure to vineyard management
Demonstrated history of effective people management, both employees and Farm Labor Contractors (FLCs)
Exposure to effectively organizing and allocating staff resources
Computer proficient in Excel (intermediate to advanced), Access, Word and PowerPoint
Excellent oral and written skills, organizational and time-management abilities, effective inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with personnel at all organizational levels
Exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Horticultural or Viticultural
A wide range of demonstrated vineyard experience
Fluent Spanish language skills
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Works outdoors/indoors
Works in warm/cold climates
Works in high places
Works on wet surfaces
Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals
Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic
Must be able to move up to 55lbs
Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution setting
Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Lifting may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
