Pacific Coast Producers, a leading private-label food processor headquartered in Northern California, is seeking a Production Superintendent at its Fruit Processing Facility in Oroville, CA. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Superintendent will have overall accountability for directing and managing plant operations to meet all quality, food safety, and customer requirements in the most safe, cost-effective, and timely manner to increase profitability by performing the following duties either personally or through subordinates. The right candidate will have an excellent opportunity for advancement.

The Production Superintendent's responsibilities can be classified into two categories; Seasonal and Year-round.

Seasonal responsibilities will include the following:
  • Responsible for directing all production activities on one of three shifts. Critical variables of labor cost, yield and quality must be managed to achieve operational goals determined by the Plant Manager while maintaining a safe and professional working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring that facility operation complies with all applicable environmental rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that all labor activities adhere to State and Collective Bargaining Agreement rules and practices.
  • Utilizing support from Maintenance Staff, evaluate and determine best action to troubleshoot and work through mechanical breakdowns in order to safely maintain best possible mechanical performance of the facility.
  • Responsible for facility raw product and ingredient receiving activities. Oversee cold storage, truck receiving and product grading activities at facility.
  • Responsible for assuring safety and environmental and compliance and developing and achieving safety and environmental goals and improvement objectives within scope of supervision.
  • Responsible for the safety, cleanliness and quality of the product, plant and employees.


Year-Round responsibilities will include the following:
  • Responsible for designated area of the facility R&M Budget; budget planning, tracking, etc.
  • As directed, design and track Capital Projects from concept to implementation.
  • May be responsible for maintaining and overseeing Safety and/or Environmental programs for facility as necessary to comply with Federal, State and Local rules and regulations.
  • May be assigned to develop and implement cost savings with respect to plant equipment, operations, and procedures.

The successful candidate must be highly motivated and will have management experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, a strong teamwork orientation, and excellent communication skills.

Additionally, the following skills and experience are required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field or five or more years of management experience.
  • Strong background managing multiple projects and initiatives on tight deadlines and ability to delegate effectively.
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to partner internally and externally to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading positive change; training, motivating, coaching, and developing individuals and teams in a pleasant, consistent manner.
  • Background in manufacturing methods, process/continuous improvement programs and procedures, and quality management system.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Computer skills, competent user of Microsoft Office Tools
  • Familiarity with mechanical functions of machines/equipment or mechanical aptitude.
  • Auto Cad experience.
  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles.
