Summary:
The Supplies & Equipment Specialist ensures adequate supplies and equipment are available, organized, and in working order for use in the department. He/She communicates with multiple disciplines when researching issues related to availability and functioning of supplies and equipment The Supplies & Equipment Specialist is the primary contact for vendors and support departments such as Biomedical Engineering and Materials Management. The person filling this role demonstrates excellent customer service, upholds the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant, and commits to providing Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Responsibilities:
Contributes to organization success targets for net operating margin.

Has contact with patients and families, including all age groups.
Demonstrates excellent customer service.
Performs scheduled and random inventory, and reorders items when supply levels reach reorder points or critically low levels.
Orders, receives, inspects, verifies, accepts or rejects all supplies and equipment delivered to the department, and facilitates its storage in the proper location. Investigates all back orders and coordinates steps to minimize their impact and maintain department operations (research acceptable substitute product, borrow from other institution etc.).
Maintains a neat clean work environment, and utilizes good storage and distribution techniques (proper location, rotation, etc) to maintain appropriate stock levels in all areas of the Birth Center.
Collaborates with other personnel within the Medical Center, including but not limited to: Information Technology (IT), Biomedical and Supply Chain Management, and outside the institution, to provide services that will assure efficient operations are maintained in the department.
Communicates all pertinent information relating to unit supplies and equipment to appropriate personnel promptly. Supplies and equipment include but are not limited to: Birthing beds, Electronic Fetal Monitors, IV pumps, Infant warmers, delivery and other procedural instruments, and breast pumps.
Maintains electronic records to assure adequate economical supply levels.
Monitors all unit based equipment and supplies for current status of function and status of any needed repair work to facilitate minimal down time of equipment.
Makes recommendations to manager regarding inventory adjustments and operational changes that might improve department efficiency and economy of inventory.
Oversees compliance of related federal, state and agency regulations as required to maintain unit survey readiness at all times.
Assists with implementation of new supplies and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.

Other information:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or equivalent.
Minimum of one year of supply or healthcare experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Computer competency, including Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and Lawson Requisition Center.
Knowledge of supplies/equipment inventory, cost investigation, ordering and equipment repair processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to work well with the public and able to be tactful in often hectic and stressful situations.
Experience working with Microsoft Excel
Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Constant standing and walking
Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs.
Frequent sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, near vision, midrange vision, far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision and field of vision
Occasional lifting up to 100 or more lbs.
Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and squatting
