The National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) was recently established at INL to accelerate private-sector demonstration of advanced reactors. As part of the broader national strategy to expand nuclear energy markets for U.S. commercial suppliers, NRIC will play a key role in de-risking technology and informing national regulatory policy through nuclear reactor demonstration and testing campaigns.

NRIC is the nation s principal program to provide the capability to build and demonstrate advanced reactors. NRIC is seeking a talented Technical Program Manager, Reactor Innovation.

Responsibilities

* Lead multi-disciplinary teams to design the purpose-built experimental infrastructure needed by U.S. reactor developers and work directly alongside industry partners as they demonstrate radical innovations in nuclear reactor design.

* Work to minimize the time required to build and operate novel reactor concepts. This may include coordinating experimental campaigns using existing DOE facilities, developing new facilities and/or capabilities to enable testing and demonstration, ensuring the availability and production of fuel for reactor demonstrations, and preparing sites for operational demonstration reactors.

* Bachelor s degree and 5 years, OR Master's degree and 3 years, OR PhD and 2 years relevant experience in Nuclear, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or other related degree. Preference for MS OR PHD

* 5 years of experience in technical program management.

* 5 years of experience in systems engineering or engineering design of pilot plants and experimental facilities.

* Ability to work closely with other INL organizations, facilities, operations and business professionals to drive programmatic activities and ensure cost effective and timely execution and completion.

* Experience with construction project management.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills.

* Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance, therefore, US citizenship is required.

* Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience leading projects in an environment with chemical, radiological, or other industrial hazards.

* Experience as a technical lead or system architect in nuclear or process technology development.

* Experience motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision/purpose, communicating clearly, and using a collaborative leadership approach.

* Ability to think strategically, innovate, and understand customer needs on complex engineering projects.
