Job Description:

While reporting to the VP, Supply Management and Logistics, your primary purpose and function is to lead the logistics organization on both strategic and tactical levels developing a well understood and aligned roadmap for the logistics strategy. You are responsible for ensuring the logistics team (20+), as well as regional and all associated resources successfully manage the timely, efficient and cost-effective transfer of products for more than 300 manufacturing sites. You will drive transportation, warehousing and trade compliance cost reduction as well as service and quality continuous improvement through process, analytics, technology, and partnership with all peer departments.

Value generated globally across the network will be in line with benchmark savings rate as provided by third party consulting firms, while driving additional value in cost avoidance, fuel hedging strategy for budget certainty, and assistance to reduce capital costs in assets(trailers).

WHAT YOU LL BE DOING:

* Manage a complex global distribution network balancing the pressures of cost and service.

* $250MM+ Transportation spend with 300+ manufacturing sites serving 10,000 internal and external customers and 250,000 annual shipments

* 300+ transportation partners, 100+ warehousing locations, Dedicated fleet = 150+ tractors, 160+ drivers, 1500 trailers.

* Governance: Design and implement and effective and sustainable global logistics governance process with key Sonoco business units.

* Technology: Design, implement and continuously improve leading edge solutions GLOBALLY such as:

* Transportation planning and execution, warehouse sourcing, freight payment and audit, fuel management, and fleet optimization to leverage assets.

* Pro-actively identify and communicate issues, propose and implement solutions for continuous improvement in regards to processes, cost, service, and profitability.

* Monitor TMS performance vs KPI s and goals tactically daily / weekly and strategically monthly / quarterly / other analysis. Develop and distribute customer reports and internal performance management reports.

* Deliver cost savings / cost containment to Sonoco, business units and plants.

* Lead business and performance reviews with senior management, business units, plants, finance and other key stakeholders.

* Employee Development Ownership (Coaching, Mentoring, Hiring, etc.)

* Liaise with transportation companies to create a good working relationship to be able to strike good negotiations for transportation of goods, and to prevent hiccups that may arise.

* Ability to lead strategy, develop and implement processes, and manage people in multiple regions of the globe.

This position is in a perfect location at our corporate headquarters in Hartsville, SC and close to exciting destinations (Myrtle Beach, SC; Charleston, SC; Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC). Relocation assistance is available.

WE D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU:

* College degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or other relevant degree. MBA or Masters desirable.

* 10 + years of logistics or customer service, 5 + years of management

* Advanced computer skills

* Effective analytical and problem-solving capabilities

* Ability to envision and implement new concepts/strategies

* Simultaneous management of multiple tasks, negotiation skills, advanced written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

This job will require potentially 20% of travel, especially during rollout or integration of acquisitions.
