Position Summary:

Under general supervision, sets up, operates and maintains oxygen and other therapeutic gas and mist inhalation equipment and mechanical ventilation equipment in order to administer prescribed doses of medical gases and aerosolized drugs to patients with cardiopulmonary disease. Assists clinical technical staff in resolving clinical problems. Performs all duties that are required of the Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. After July 1, 1998 graduation from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Joint Review Committee for the Certification of
Respiratory Therapy Education Programs (J.R.C.R.T.E.)

Licensure/Certification:

Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (C.R.T.T.) Required. Maryland State License Required, Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.), A.C.L.S., P.A.L.S, N.R.P. Preferred; CPR Certification and B.L.S. required.

Work Experience:

Requires 6 months experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and/or successful completion of a J.R.C.R.T.E accredited Respiratory Care Program. After May 1, 2013 all Respiratory Care Float Pool employees will be trained to work in both the adult and pediatric divisions.
