Director, BrainLine.org (Content Editor)

Full-Time; No end date, but continuation of position is dependent on continued grant funding

Reports to: Senior Director, Learning Media

BrainLine.org is the leading national website serving people with brain injury or PTSD, their families, and the professionals who work with them. As the Director of BrainLine.org, you will create, acquire, test, publish, distribute, and market online content for BrainLine.org and its social media channels. You will be actively involved in our outreach and partnership efforts for BrainLine, with the goals of: increasing the audience, expanding our ability to produce and acquire new content, and enabling BrainLine to secure additional grant funding and earned income.

In an average week, you can expect to:

- Develop and produce or manage the production of new online content, including articles, videos, and slideshows.

- Cultivate relationships with education and research organizations with an eye toward acquiring and sharing content.

- Collaborate with other site managers in WETA Learning Media to share and adopt best practices.

- Contribute to grant proposals and earned income opportunities that enable us to sustain and expand BrainLine.

What success looks like:

- After 60 days, you've immersed yourself in information about TBI and PTSD. You've made contacts with partner organizations and are cultivating new ones. You've developed a plan to complete all grant required deliverables. You're creating content for our social channels, website, and newsletter using our editorial style. And you've explored BrainLine's analytics and have ideas for broadening our audience, especially the military and veteran audience.

- After 120 days, you're in regular communication with expert advisers and funders. You're generating accessible, appealing, and authoritative content regularly in collaboration with your colleagues in the department and with outside contractors. And you're spending time promoting BrainLine in smart ways that leverage our existing audience and relationships while launching new connections.

You must have:

- Proven knowledge of online media production, publication, and distribution.

- Multimedia work samples that demonstrate knowledge, creativity, and awareness of audience.

- Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable initiative and sound judgment.

- College degree or its equivalent in a related field, minimum 5 years of experience in online media production/publication/distribution, or equivalent combination of experience and training.

You should have:

- Familiarity with brain injury and PTSD and a commitment to serving the needs of TBI and PTSD communities, including civilians, veterans, caregivers, and professionals.

- Deep experience with content management systems (BrainLine is currently on Drupal 7.), social media, MailChimp or similar, SEO, and Google Analytics. Experience with Google Ad Manager, AdWords, and AdSense helpful.

- Military experience or familiarity with military culture is desirable.
