Basic Function/Scope

Responsible for all technical issues between the customer need and the successful delivery of quality parts to fill that need - on time.

This position reports directly to Engineering Manager.

Essential Functions

Work with customers to create customer configuration control drawings based on customer drawings and specifications while assuring that drawings and specifications reflect attainable and cost effective requirements.

Initiate or prepare manufacturing drawings. Coordinate/complete sales drawings preparation and revision.

Initiate and prepare or produce samples and tests of parts for customers. May modify parts from stock or create new parts from raw material. Maintain involvement in all aspects of tests and preparation of test data.

Oversee manufacturing planning and router preparation to ensure the proper flow of the product from the drawing to the completion of the parts, which would be include manufacturing operations, processing, testing, and any other applicable operation.

Provide technical support to assure the compliance of proper manufacturing methods. Work with Quality and Manufacturing to solve shop floor problems. Participate in Statistical Process Analysis. Work closely with lab on in-process tests. Assists in planning, and authorized re-work operations

Oversee qualification testing and prepare qualification reports in accordance with customer procurement specifications in order to become an approved supplier.

Participate in external technical committees such as NASC, SAE/E25, and ALMA/IFI.

Introduce new products and implements product improvements/extensions. Support Sales and application engineering activities. Work with manufacturing, tooling, etc. to reduce manufacturing costs, and cycle times. Strives to improve the product, reduce costs, reduce lead times, and meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations.

Participate and support Engineering and Quality with audits such as AS9100, Nadcap, Customer Product Audit and Internal Audits.

Prepare Process Control Documents and Supplier Industrial Dossier as needed.

Travel to customer sites in the course solving engineering or quality issues.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and perform statistical analysis of data, and fundamental of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Knowledge of the basic machines of the facility.

Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Special vision required, such as close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Keep work area clean, safe and in orderly fashion on daily basis.

Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and practices. Report all unsafe activities to Supervisor, and/or Human Resources.

Participate in proactive team effort to achieve departmental and company goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Provide leadership to others through example and the sharing of knowledge/skill.

Supervision and/or Direction Required

Supervise both their work assignments and performance development (appraisal).

Receive very general guidance with respect to overall objectives; work is usually quite independent of others; operate within division or departmental policy guidelines using independent judgement in achieving assigned objectives.

Handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Working Conditions

Comply with all safety policies, procedures and practices as it relates to office/production working environments i.e. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when entering production environment, etc.

Hearing protection is required in all area labeled "Heavy protection required".

The indoor office setting is well lighted, with adequate ventilation and air-conditioned.

Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activity of a primarily technical nature.

Regular of work, days and hours - 5 days, 8 hours, by shift, with meetings. Support production during month end by working second shift and weekends as required.

7.1 Sr Product EngineeringQualifications

Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university and 7 years related experience.

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
