Position Responsibilities

The Interim Project Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising a team of Project Accountants.  The position requires an in-depth knowledge of the project accounting role, including project budgets, labor costs, and billed and earned revenue, and the ability to manage a small team. Responsible for project related financial functions and reporting including but not limited to project financial performance, variance analysis, accounts receivable, and forecasting.  You are expected to develop strong relationships with project managers and principals to help reach financial goals.  Reporting directly to the Global Leader of Financial Reporting and CFO, this is a temporary position, expected to last approximately 6 months.


  • Manage a team of Project Accountants

  • Provide strategic oversite to project accounting and project management on complex projects including

  • Project set up

  • Invoicing set up

  • Planning and budgeting

  • Project financial execution

  • Consultant management

  • Project health evaluation

  • Train and mentor Project Accounting Team

  • Provide relevant training to Project Managers

  • Assist with implementation of new corporate directives related to accounting and system processes

  • Evaluate, develop and implement project accounting tools & procedures that enhance and improve overall results

  • Meetings

  • Develop and maintain a schedule of required meetings for both this role and the Team

  • Facilitate meetings with Leadership (including project managers) From a summary level including

  • Staffing

  • Comprehensive project performance

  • Projects at risk

  • Billings and collections

  • Participate in on going project reviews with project managers as necessary

  • Coordinate back-up and balance workload within the team

Minimum Qualifications


  • Degree in Accounting/Business Administration or comparable experience.

  • Prior mentoring and supervision responsibilities

  • 7 years +Project or Job Costing experience.

  • Experience within the Architecture, Engineering or Construction industries.

  • Hands-on, especially in terms of billing, project accounting and contract review.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize work flows and juggle conflicting demands.

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral).

  • Ability to interface with  and provide strategic guidance to Key Stakeholder across the firm

  • Experience with Microsoft office including but not limited to Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Deltek Vision ERP software preferred.
