Job Description:

Job Summary

Provides data collection, management, visualization, and analysis expertise for the Quality Management and Process Improvement departments. Collaborates on Quality systems and initiatives for the NCHS Quality Plan. Manages quality projects and large data sets.

 

Job Specific Duties


  •  Provides data management and statistical analysis for quality process improvement projects and activities.


  •  Collaborates with team and applies statistical, computational, and scientific expertise during the design, implementation, and reporting phases of quality process improvement projects.


  •  Assists with the computation and written description of appropriate sample size, sampling, and randomization procedures.


  •  Works with team to identify and correct data values that are missing, out-of-range, or may otherwise potentially threaten validity or efficiency of data analysis.


  •  Provides primary statistical programming support to refine and implement planned statistical analyses.


  •  Manages analysis of datasets, statistical programs, and quality process improvement projects to facilitate replication of results by colleagues & external reviewers.


  •  Interprets and communicates statistical analyses results. Prepares graphical and textual description results.


  •  Identifies and communicates barriers to quality services, compliance, or ineffective processes.

Minimum Job Requirements


  •  Master's Degree in Statistics or related field


  •  Proficient in SAS/SPSS (certified SAS programmer) and familiar with SAS-SQL and R for analysis and graphics


  •  1-3 years of experience in healthcare or equivalent organization using statistical methods


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  •  Prior experience with REDCap, Tableau, Hadoop, SQL and SAP Business Objects preferred


  •  Knowledge of medical terminology; able to understand clinical data from medical records, such as diagnoses and procedure codes, APR-DRG codes, etc.


  •  Able to apply sound principles for the creation and maintenance of databases


  •  Excellent communication and collaboration skills


  •  Ability to function independently, keep track of multiple projects, work to meet specific deadlines, and document procedures is critical


  •  Detail oriented, highly motivated, and committed to achieving excellence in the form of productivity and publications


  •  Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing at a professional level


  •  Able to learn new computer software applications and computational procedures


  •  Ability to assist with the development and implementation of innovative statistical approaches to solve complex analytical requirements
