Sr. Director, Specialty Pharmacy Strategy at Magellan Health Services inc in Maryland Heights, Missouri

Job Description:

This position is responsible for implementing and managing initiatives that drive revenue growth while maximizing margin retention. This includes marketing strategies that drive business development as well as the presentation of specialty pharmacy solutions to clients and consultants. Develops and manages specialty pharmacy products and programs. Creates strategies that optimize the supply chain by working with wholesalers, manufacturers, and group purchasing organizations (GPOs).

• Develop and adjust, as necessary, the specialty pharmacy value proposition to meet the needs of the market for both prospects and clients, as well as manufacturers.


• Act as a specialty pharmacy subject matter expert (SME) for the pharmacy benefit management (PBM) sales force as well as all other internal stakeholders.


• Participate in client and manufacturer presentations, as necessary.


• Develop and manage products and programs that increase the number of patients and prescriptions coming to our specialty pharmacy.


• Growth of the Limited Distribution Drug (LDD) portfolio through monitoring of the drug pipeline and working with manufacturers to gain access to their new-to-market drugs.


• Develop strategies that allow our specialty pharmacy to participate in additional payer networks.


• Partner with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) to improve our purchasing discounts and implement data sharing agreements.


• Coordinate with our Purchasing department and drug wholesaler to optimize our purchasing strategy and increase margins.


• Optimize profitable specialty pharmacy dispensing through appropriate formulary placement of certain specialty drugs.


• Assorted projects, as necessary.

Other Job Requirements

Responsibilities

• 10 years of experience in healthcare (PBM and/or specialty pharmacy preferred) and experience in Sales/Account Management and/or Product/Program Management.


• Minimum 8 years of previous management or leadership experience required.


• Management/leadership skills, ability to successfully analyze and resolve complex problems, ability to motivate and train others, organizational skills, problem-solving, knowledge of quality improvement processes, demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, communication skills and the ability to establish team relationships.


• Proven ability to strategically lead an organization toward the attainment of its goals and objectives, mission and values.


• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.


• Demonstrated team building skills to promote an environment of diversity, collaboration and recognition.


• Skills in planning, tracking, and auditing performance data.


• Demonstrates broad-scope financial expertise, with financial modeling experience.


• Understanding of health delivery systems.


• Knowledge of managed health care and health care trends.
