Quality fabrication and on-time delivery form the core of General Stamping & Metalworks success. The Quality Manager is charged with the responsibility for ensuring that all GSM processes support the platform of collaborative engineering, expert fabrication and strategic supply chain capabilities that enables manufacturers to deliver superior products, scale their operations and protect their brands. This commitment to quality extends beyond compliance and informs every activity in the manufacturing process and beyond.

This job description is intended to be an overview of primary responsibilities for this position. All employees are charged with providing assistance in generally similar duties when management deems it necessary. Special projects and activities may also be created where employees talents can best be utilized. In addition, General Stamping & Metalworks is a growing organization responding to an ever changing market It is expected that tasks and requirements will change from time to time and employees will be asked to respond as needed and within reason.
Organizational Relationships and Authority
The Quality Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations. Direct reports to this position are likely to include:

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Quality Manager is to plan for all organizational quality requirements and audit processes in order to ensure conformance to certification standards and customer requirements. The Quality Manager documents, compiles and communicates all non-conforming findings, and actively participates in their permanent resolution and prevention by skillfully applying the tools of the quality professional. Other responsibilities specific to this position are:

Supervising quality team members to ensure accurate and timely submission of first article inspection and PPAP documentationDeveloping an advance quality planning process that increases first pass yield and productivity by creating effective, efficient in-process inspection plansOrganizing and controlling quality system procedures (QSP) and the standard operating procedures (SOP) that support themCoordinating with ISO registrar to plan and schedule certification and surveillance audits, and travelling to other GSM facilities when such audits are conductedEnsuring that ISO/TS documentation is user friendly and relevant to process controlEnsuring effective calibration and control of all measuring devicesEvaluating competency of existing auditors and re-training as necessaryBuilding relationships with customers to understand quality standards and expectationsGathering customer quality score card results and communicating important findings to team members, managers and supervisors throughout GSMRecommending high-impact quality objectives to executive managementMeasuring progress toward objectives and reporting according to scheduleMaintaining awareness of total quality costs and optimizing outcomes through continuous improvement initiativesExpertly engaging with customers during visits to GSM Facilities by deeply understanding GSM ISO Standards and demonstrating solid fabricating and supply chain processesInteracting with customer engineering resources to understand part applicationBuilding relationships with suppliers to clarify GSM quality standardsConducting periodic and timely QA auditsCollaborating with supervisors, managers, engineers and operators to ensure best methods for measuring are incorporated into control plansUsing statistical tools to verify process capability and identify opportunities for improvementAddressing internal and external non-conformances through the 8- Discipline to determine root cause and place proper controls for corrective action and prevent future occurrence within the system.Offering solutions and resources when obstacles are encountered during production processesCollaborating with employees to ensure corrective actions are investigated, root cause is understood and measures to prevent recurrence are implemented and effectiveCollaborating with the Curriculum Specialist to ensure quality training, instructional support and documentation provide an integrated program for developing a customer-focused orientation in every member of our production teamCreating a GSM Quality Team that is responsive, professional and flexible to meet the needs of the organization through performance evaluations, skill development planning and accurate documentation.

Qualifications and Competencies
To perform this job successfully the Quality Manager must possess excellent interpersonal skills, a meticulous eye for detail. This Individual must be able to produce coherent written documents that are free of grammatical and calculation errors. The ideal candidate holds the strictest confidence regarding all confidential information related to the companys operations, its employees, financial matters, and personal matters of which the employee may become aware in the course of their work.

Education
Bachelor of Science in EngineeringSix Sigma Green Belt Certification (preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience within the metal fabrication industry as a successful implementer and steward of an ISO/TS system
