Merchant Analyst - Service Retention at Best Buy in Richfield, Minnesota

Best Buy's Services Retention team is looking for a dynamic, versatile, detail minded merchant analyst to join the team. The service retention category is a challenging, fast growing, constantly evolving space focusing on subscriptions, warranty and membership. As a team we strive to drive actionable, high impact insights that will generate long-term value for our members.

The Merchant Analyst role will be an advocate for members, a creative problem solver, and a strategic thinker. In this role, you are tasked with unlocking and communicating customer-centric, actionable insights to your product and business partners by piecing together multiple data sources. You are also equally up to the task of getting into the details by digging deep into the data and crafting robust reporting solutions that help you and business team scale efficiently. This role will have direct P&L responsibility for renewals/retention of all memberships, subscriptions and contracts as well as pricing and bundle renewal management.

What you will do:

• Take ownership of analytics projects and present clearly communicated findings that lead to actionable insights.


• Multi-task and support ad hoc querying and analyses to understand customer behavior, investigate emerging trends and diagnose data discrepancies.


• Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional partners


• Understand, monitor and collaborate with various teams to ensure ongoing data quality.

• 1+ year experience in Demand Planning, Forecasting, or Retail Product Management


• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Product Suite; specifically Excel and PowerPoint


• Demonstrated analytical skills with experience telling a story with data using tools and excellent communication skills


• Demonstrated organization and time management skills

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience with working knowledge of Retail, Inventory, Merchandising, or Supply Chain, while demonstrating:


• Ability to influence without authority; developed communication and diplomacy skills used to direct/persuade/influence others


• Ability to analyze complex problems, operate effectively in high pressure situations and make accurate decisions quickly


• Strong proficiency in querying, manipulating and analyzing large data sets using SQL and/or Access.


• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and exchange complex information with category team members, leaders and relevant cross-functional partners


• Demonstrated natural curiosity to explore new areas,finding creative ways to tackle or circumvent data problems
