Department's Website:Summary of Job Duties:Responsible for the day to day management and care of animals, facilities and
pastures involved in the cow/calf research programs. This responsibility also
includes maintenance and upkeep of fences, facilities and equipment.
Conduct research studies with the fall and spring calving cows according to protocols
as written by project leaders; collect and record data as specified in these protocols.
Assist with research studies involving the stocker animals, and the care of these animals,
facilities and pastures. This includes maintenance and upkeep of fences, facilities and
equipment.
Supervise and assist farm workers involved in the day to day management of animals and
facilities, research studies, and data collection. This includes station, facilities and
equipment maintenance.
Perform duties as assigned by supervisor, such as, harvesting and storing hay; sampling
soil, pastures and hay; planting, fertilizing and spraying pastures; laying water lines; building
and repairing fences; construction of new facilities; conduct tours and assist with field days.Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications: BS in Animal Science or related field
Preferred qualifications: MS degree in Animal Science (preferred) with one year of experience.
Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification
Obtain a non-commercial applicator license within one year of hire date
Constitutional Animal Care and Use (IACUC) training within one year of hire date
