The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for academic year 2021-22. The department seeks applicants with expertise in Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology who will participate in our Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program. The successful candidate will be joining a department with more than 45 full-time faculty members, over 2,000 undergraduate majors and minors, and an MS graduate program. This search is part of a University-wide, multi-year hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding researchers and teachers who are reflective of our diverse student body and committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines) and the pursuit of external grants. Of special interest are candidates who can further the University s efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Faculty candidates are expected to run a productive research laboratory, involve undergraduate and graduate students in their research, and be competitive for external funding. They will also teach two courses per semester supporting our new interdisciplinary Neuroscience major. Researchers in all areas of molecular, cellular, and electrophysiological neuroscience are welcome to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate for this position will have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related field, postdoctoral research experience, and proven excellence in research and teaching at the college level and be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education focused on social justice.
