Smiths Medical is currently hiring an Engineer I, Software Verification in Minneapolis, MN.

The Engineer I, Software Verification will develop and execute automated and manual verification for Server and PC Applications as a member of an established software development agile team. This is an entry-level position that will provide an opportunity to apply learned skills and experiences to grow in engineering practices for our products at all stages of our product development lifecycle. This role will include applying verification methods through all levels of design and implementation. You will be collaborating with experienced software engineers to verify software updates and implementations for our product platforms.

* Provide verification of inputs at all levels of software design

* Design, develop, and maintain software tests

* Execute and debug automated test software

* Create and execute manual tests

* Involved in preparation of software verification plans, traceability reports, and verification reports

* Able to dissect requirements into test cases

* Able to work with developers on assuring requirements are testable

* Perform peer review

* Performs troubleshooting tasks as related to software product development

* Daily standups and scrum sprint events

* Work closely with development engineers to verify design inputs

* Work independently taking day-to-day direction from the Verification Lead

* Join communication meetings such as town halls, 1:1s, and staff meetings

* Ensure quality and adherence to software procedures

* This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).

* Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

* Minimum Bachelors Degree in Engineering and Minimum of 0-3 years of experience in software verification, principles, theories, concepts and techniques

* Knowledge of software verification methods

* Ability to implement automated test practices/scripting languages

* Experience writing and executing manual test protocols

* Moderate problem solving and analytical ability

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Experience working in a regulated industry, medical device preferred

* Agile software life cycle and development preferred

* Requirements based testing using Quality System processes and procedures preferred

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, inside and outside the unit

* Ability to work with integrity and build trust

* Moderate problem solving and analytical ability

* Ability to critically review and interpret technical documentation

* Ability to work accurately with attention to detail

* Ability to handle multiple priorities and to meet key deadlines under pressure through effective time management skills

* Ability to clearly convey ideas and concepts verbally and in writing

* Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member

* Education requirements can be obtained through an educational institution or gained through equivalent work experience.
