Job Description:

The Payroll Specialist position will assist the payroll team by processing bi-weekly, multi-state payrolls for both salaried and hourly employees. A payroll specialist is able to use payroll software with accuracy and efficiency. They are good with numbers and can be trusted with sensitive information. They also have great communication skills to interact with colleagues and executives.

The ideal candidate is analytical, methodical and highly organized with experience in payroll administration and thorough knowledge of current payroll regulations.

We value integrity, engagement and team spirit. A team player with strong communication skills, at least five years progressive payroll processing experience with US operations and Canadian payroll operations would be beneficial.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform daily payroll department operations
*

Manage workflow to ensure all payroll data transactions processed accurately and timely thru other third party data exchange.
*

Coordinate and execute data exchange between timekeeping and payroll system
*

Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed report totals
*

Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as internal policies
*

Collaborate with Human Resource and accounting teams
*

Process accurate year-end reporting and address corrections when necessary
*

Prepare reports for upper management, finance department and other payroll customers
*

Address issued and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors in addition to the helpdesk.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

*

Proven experience as payroll specialist
*

Solid knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
*

Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxation
*

Proficient in MS Office
*

Experience with payroll/HRIS software, ADP, Kronos and Workday preferred
*

Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
*

Working knowledge of payroll best practices
*

Trustworthy with strict adherence to confidentiality
*

Excellent communication skills both oral and written
*

Analytical mind and good math skills
*

Strong work ethic in a team atmosphere
*

Ability to prioritize and adhere to very stringent deadlines
*

Professional certification (FCP, CPP) preferred but not required
*

Canadian payroll processing experience is a plus
*

Minimum five years of previous US payroll operations experience in a multi-state environment required
