Job Summary:
The Key Account Manager will play a critical role in establishing Blueprint Medicines commercial success as we plan our first product launch in Systemic Mastocytosis (SM) and expand to future indications. This individual will be a product and disease state expert establishing long-term relationships with Key Accounts and HCPs in the geography. Pre-launch activities will be focused on site profiling to glean a full understanding of the SM patient journey from pre-diagnosis to treatment. At launch, the KAM will promote our approved therapy to established SM centers, while also identifying and activating referring accounts and affiliated HCPs.
The KAM will align and implement account plans with other customer-facing teams (e.g., precision medicine, medical affairs, sales etc.) aligned to their geography. In addition, the KAM will identify treatment patterns, helping to map referral networks and support the effective deployment of the broader sales team. Further, the KAM serves as the lead for other account management activities, such as speaker management, marketing engagement and other commercial needs. This individual will report to the National Sales Director and be a key member of an efficient, effective and highly collaborative field team.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary commercial interface with key customer accounts, being accountable for the overall customer experience
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of and relationship with key customer accounts, including all relevant stakeholders (e.g., physicians, nurses, office staff, management, etc.)
- Assess the treatment patterns and referral networks affiliated with key customer accounts.
- Establish and execute against business plans for key accounts in alignment with national strategy. Effectively communicate those plans and lead key account strategy discussions with leadership, building understanding and support
- Proactively identify new opportunities and apply customer insights to develop, execute and refine approaches.
- Work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including marketing, other sales counterparts, patient services, medical affairs, precision medicine, national account executive and operations teams, in order to achieve account objectives
- Leverage analytical tools to understand business trends and meet or exceed target KPIs
- Be a voice for key customer accounts within the organization, advocating for needs and sharing insights with key stakeholders and cross-functional partners
- Build and maintain proficiency in the disease state, patient and clinic experience, and product (post approval)
- Proactively meet with key customer accounts to solicit feedback and adjust accordingly
- Represent Blueprint Medicines at congresses and local / regional medical meetings
- Efficiently and effectively manage local territory budget
- Exhibit a patient focused mindset while delivering educational resources and programs to assist with effective patient care
- Comply with regulatory guidelines, public policies/guidelines, and corporate policies and procedures
- Ability to cover a large geography and travel within the US on a regular basis, which will include overnight and weekend travel
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree required
- 8+ years' experience in biotech/pharma sales calling on relevant specialists
- Strong business planning around key accounts and health systems
- Oncology reimbursement expertise with oral oncolytics in academic and community practice settings
- Key Account management background strongly preferred
- Hematology background strongly preferred
- Rare Disease background strongly preferred
- Experience in underdeveloped markets is a plus
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- KOL development experience required
- Established strong working relationships with key centers and HCPs in the geography
- Cross functional commercial background a plus (i.e. marketing, sales leadership, etc.)
- Demonstrated success across multiple drug launches in applicable specialty markets
- Understanding of oral targeted therapies with a requisite diagnostic component and ability to navigate in complex market access environments
- Expertise in creating and executing on key customer account plans, informed by local knowledge and aligned to strategy and tactics of the company
- Track record of sharing customer insights with the organization and resulting impact on brand strategy and tactics
