Job Description:

Mechanics Bank is seeking their next System Engineerto sit out of our Roseville office, or remotely in Reno, NV.

In this role, you will support the VMware vSphere environments including design, configuration, and troubleshooting. Work with other IT employees to support, configure, and troubleshoot the virtual platform, including routing and switching. Under general supervision, analyzes desktop computing requirements to ensure systems compatibility with the Bank's standards. Recommends appropriate purchase of computing systems based on user needs. Provides general technical support to the Bank. Assists project leaders, business leaders, managers, and other team members in the fulfillment of their tasks.

What you will do:
- Supports the VMware vSphere environments including design, configuration, performance management, and troubleshooting.
- Works with other IT employees to support, configure, and troubleshoot the virtual platform, including routing and switching.
- Provides direction and guidance on virtualization deployment and configuration.
- Responsible for performance monitoring and management of the virtualized environment. Makes recommendations to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Confers with user departments and evaluates computing requests including system capacity and peripheral requirements. Assists users with defining their system configuration requirements and expenditure requests.
- Installs, configures, and tests computing systems, peripherals, operating systems, utilities, and applications software. Reports all modifications including upgrades to inventory control.
- Provides user departments with technical support. Performs system and network troubleshooting to isolate, identify, and correct reported problems.
- Makes recommendations for improved information processing standards and cost effectiveness.

Who you are:
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) strongly preferred.
- Bachelor Degree in relevant area of study highly preferred.
- Thorough technical expertise designing, deploying, and operating VMware vSphere environments and VMware auxiliary technologies, including VMware Horizon View (VDI).
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP core protocols and functions.
- Working knowledge of scripting or programming language to automate and accelerate delivery of infrastructure technology solutions.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft and Linux/UNIX operating systems.
- Thorough knowledge of desktop and peripheral software and hardware standard requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of system and network configuration requirements.
- Working knowledge of network routing and switching.
- Skill in problem-solving and diagnostic techniques.
- Analytical ability.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and allocate resources.
- Skill in attention to detail.
