This position is within the High Density Interconnect, Product Engineering team of MKS Instruments. Specifically, this group designs and develops machines that enable disruptive laser based processing and high-volume manufacturing of rigid circuit boards in the consumer electronics industry. MKS is investing in this product team to accelerate the development timelines of our future products allowing us to quickly capitalize on our successes and expand MKS solutions for our customer base.

We are looking for an exceptional Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer who can be a design and development lead for the laser beam path and component design in future products by performing the following duties.

- Provide a precision mechanics perspective to the design and development team during all phases of new-product development

- Design and verify mechanical components to be used as mounting or supporting hardware for optical components

- Participate in the specification of optical materials; bulk, epoxy, and surfaces

- Maintain optical system tolerance budget, act as reference for GD&T concepts

- Design experiments, analyze and interpret resulting test data

- Track and report progress to management

- Assist in the identification and resolution of system design weaknesses

- Note: We use Siemens NX, and Zemax as our modeling packages

What will you bring to the team, along with your curiosity is, a B.S. or higher degree in one of the following fields; Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science. 7+ years of increasing responsibility within an optically focused mechanical engineering team.

Travel

Ability to travel internationally and remotely support key MKS customers. Requires appropriate work authorization to freely enter and exit The United States of America, and other primarily Asia Pacific countries. We are interested in a qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we will not sponsor employment visas. Travel may be expected up to 10%.
