Job Summary:
Receives raw almonds, identifies almonds to confirm proper variety has been identified, pulls samples from grower direct deliveries and ensures the almonds are stored in the proper location. Communicates to department lead or supervisor on all receiving issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Must be able to identify different almond varieties and verify correct product is going into silos. Responsible for moving product conveyor to various silos.  Maintains daily bin reading report Requires ascending and descending vertical ladders and working from elevated positions. May be required to operate a forklift with attachments (Turn a box) Empties dust box from dust collector.  Sample collection and variety classification is essential.  Knowledge of truck scales procedures is preferred. Performs general laborer duties and other duties as assigned by supervisor. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.


• Must understand Blue Diamond line certification, HACCP processes and auditing, Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs) and safety practices.

Education Level and Focus:        

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Prior forklift driver experience required.

• Position requires excellent communication skills and a basic understanding of machine operations.  Must be able to climb up and down ladders and catwalks.  Must be able to identify and solve problems independently, coordinate workflow and meet output standards.

• Works under general supervision.  Follows set procedures, and schedules for job duties.  Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor.

• Requires the ability to identify problems and assist in problem solving.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations, shipping instructions and sample requisitions.  Basic math skills required.  Proficient PC knowledge and skills are a plus.   

• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as necessary.

• Use of Stairs.  Heavy physical requirements.

• Position requires the ability to work in noisy areas with exposure to heat, cold, and dust.  Must be constantly alert to pedestrians and other vehicles in the area.
