Job Summary:
Under general supervision, engages in the sanitation of the food processing equipment, floors, walls and related facilities to maintain the plant in accordance to food safety practices.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                        

• Cleans and sanitizes food processing equipment, floors, walls and related facilities. 


• Conducts routine service and maintenance on sanitation equipment (e.g. assemble and disassemble sweepers, scrubbers, etc.).


• Removes and replaces components of processing equipment for cleaning purposes.


• Operates sweepers, scrubbers, pressure washers and other custodial equipment. 


• Applies pesticides and maintain cleanliness outside the food manufacturing areas. 


• Mixes and uses chemicals related to cleaning and sanitizing equipment.


• Maintains records, files, and processes single documents. 


• Orders materials, record expenditures, and prepare reports as directed. 


• Understands and adheres to Blue Diamond HACCP processes, Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs) and safety practices. 


• Proceeds with duties by following several standardized procedures and may refer to supervisor if problems arise.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS                                                                                  

Minimum level of education required 

• High School Diploma or GED         

Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience

• 6 months of sanitation or custodian experience.

Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.)

• Must have good communication skills and the ability to interface with drivers, customers and guests at Blue Diamond.


• Ascend and descend multiple level equipment and work from elevated locations.  Ability to climb ladders and cross high catwalks.  Be able to walk plant areas and lift up to 50lbs. 


• Overtime as necessary is a requirement to the performance of this position.  


• Must be able to read and interpret company policies and instructions. 


• Must meet output standards and meet schedules and deadlines as assigned. 


• Must be knowledgeable and recognize crisis management alarms (fire, intrusion, machinery malfunction) and follow-up actions.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.)

• Basic computer and math skills  
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position may require the ability to meet the physical demands of heavy lifting to carry out the assigned duties.    

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position may require employee to work around energized equipment and is routinely exposed to hazardous materials. Position may require the exposure to various adverse conditions such as, heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, dirt, and grease, and chemical substance.
