Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an innovative communications specialist with a passion for simplifying complex topics and writing to support its Environment, Safety, Health & Quality (ESH&Q) directorate. In this meaningful role, an experienced communications professional will provide writing, editing, strategic support, and logistical support for ESH&Q.

As the nation s nuclear energy laboratory, INL maintains a strong safety focus. The health and safety of every employee, both on and off-the-job, is critical to INL s mission. INL demonstrates world-leading safety behavior, safety performance and environmental stewardship. This individual will serve as the Communication Program Liaison (CPL) reporting to INL s Communications & Outreach organization and matrixed to the ESH&Q organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Helps communicate information to internal and external audiences

* Write in-depth articles and also brief highlights of ESH&Q projects

* Provide communications expertise related to audiences, strategies and messaging

* Develop communications resources such as press releases, fact sheets, newsletters, employee communications, internal and external website content, features for INL.gov and third party publications, and video content

* Prepare annual and special reports, annual reporting input, and executive presentations

* Involved with communications support for activities governed by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) -- a United States environmental law that promotes the enhancement of the environment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor s degree in communications, marketing or related field and 5 years of experience, master's degree and 3 years of experience, a PhD and 2 years of experience, or at least 13 years of professional work experience. Degree is preferred.

* Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce content across multiple media channels and for multifaceted audiences.

* Demonstrated ability to understand technical principles and communicate technical topics in simple terms.

* Excellent writing skills and familiarity with AP Style, as well as strong news judgement.

* Manage several projects at once, work independently, and demonstrate strong analytical and common-sense thinking.

* Able to work in a culturally diverse environment.

* Experience with advertising, public relations and/or journalism required, Experience communicating about science and technology preferred.
