JOB SUMMARY
At Houston Methodist, the Multimodality Technologist position is an experienced CT and Radiologic Technologist typically based in a free standing imaging or emergency care center who performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic radiology procedures to include both X-ray and CT exams of moderate to high complexity. This position may perform other job duties related to admissions and registration, medical assisting and transportation, as needed. The Multimodality Technologist position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of various radiology procedures. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and patient care situations. The Multimodality Technologist position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic procedures. This position delivers exceptional patient care, teamwork, and adheres to radiation standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE - 20%

SERVICE - 30%
1.Performs diagnostic radiology procedures to include X-ray and CT exams.
2.Proactively assesses, identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
3.Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
4.Performs what is required to meet the needs of patient care which may be one or more of the following: transporting, registration, admissions, answering phones, contacting physicians, taking and monitoring vital signs, EKGs, documenting, starting IVs, etc.

QUALITY/SAFETY - 30%
1.Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Uses ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to protect patients, staff and general public, and follows radiation safety standards. Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
2.Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
3.Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventative maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.
4.Assists with implementation and education of department based safety initiatives and standards of practice.

FINANCE - 10%
1.Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.
2.Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.

GROWTH/INNOVATION - 10%
1.Actively participates in special projects, department initiatives or shared governance activities and seeks opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development. Completes and updates the individual development plan (IDP) on an on-going basis.
2.Fosters a positive and constructive teaching environment by engaging co-workers and students, as applicable, in learning opportunities that are valuable and in alignment with business objectives.
