Department Description
The Office of Medical Education (OME) is dedicated to the support and advancement of the teaching mission of the School of Medicine. The primary goal of the organization is to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that nurtures the requisite and enduring attitudes, skills, and knowledge required of excellent physicians. The Assessment, Evaluation, and Scholarship Unit provides support to SOM leaders, administration, and faculty regarding assessment, educational program evaluation and effectiveness, quality improvement across all medical education programs, accreditation compliance, and scholarship in medical education outcomes.

Responsibilities
The Evaluation Research Analyst performs advanced evaluation research tasks and reports to the Director of the Assessment, Evaluation, and Scholarship Unit. The Evaluation Research Analyst is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate strategies and key metrics using widely accepted conceptual frameworks for evaluation. The position designs methodologically sophisticated evaluation plans, conducts evaluation research activities, performs analyses, presents project findings in local and national venues, and develops written reports. The position requires frequent interaction with a variety of individuals and internal and external administrative offices involved in education and research at UC Davis SOM.
Required Qualifications
*
Advanced knowledge relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Advanced knowledge of a health professions education program curriculum and requirements. Maintains a broad range of expertise in health professions education theory and industry best practices.
*
Advanced knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills to develop and implement complex processes and systems improving program quality and efficiency and reducing cost.
*
Experience conducting data analysis with statistical software such as R to produce basic descriptive statistics (e.g., frequencies, averages, cross tabulations, correlations, t-tests).
*
In-depth knowledge of educational software and technologies to promote a wide-range of teaching and learning goals.
*
In-depth knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program.
*
Advanced organizational and project management skills.
*
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
*
Master s or PhD degree in social science discipline, program evaluation, or public health.
*
Experience evaluating programs in the area of health professions education or higher education.
*
Experience co-authoring manuscripts for publication in a peer review journal.
*
Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software such as NVivo.
*
Familiarity with content management software such as FilePro.
*
Familiarity with web-based survey software such as Qualtrics.
*
Experience with IRB approval processes.
*
Experience working in an academic-medical organizational environment.
Special Requirements
Must be able to work variable schedule as needed. This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
