The University of California, Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC or the Center) is a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, and an Organized Research Unit (ORU) under the Office of Research. UCDCCC is a clinical and research enterprise consisting of over 220 faculty members from the Davis, Sacramento and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory campuses with research funding totaling $48M.

Responsibilities
The Finance and Business Analyst is an integral member of the UCDCCC team and reports to the Finance and Business Officer (FBO). The position provides overall budget management, accountability, analysis, and coordination of the Cancer Center's financial operations. Under the guidance of the UCDCCC AD and the supervision of the FBO, the incumbent is responsible for providing the full spectrum of financial management support for all Cancer Center programs/projects and is responsible for fiscal and operational department functions.

Responsibilities are to assist with the development, planning, and management of the UCDCCC finances in partnership with the FBO and AD. This position has maximum accountability and autonomy for assigned financial and business projects. Duties include operating expense/revenue budgets, supply and equipment procurement, analysis, creation and distribution of financial reports. She/he manages and oversees purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, personnel recruitment and payroll.

Additionally, the Finance Analyst serves as the Cancer Center's liaison to intra-and inter-campus offices, federal, state, and other external funding agencies for service-related contracts, gifts, and endowments. He/she provides direct oversight of the daily financial obligations of the department. Additional responsibilities are to design and prepare financial and billing reports.

Required Qualifications

* Extensive experience using analytical and critical thinking skills to research and interpret data and policy, contribute to solutions, forecast the impact of potential actions, develop logical conclusions, and/or recommend solutions.

* Demonstrated financial accounting and/or auditing experience.

* Demonstratedexperience and/or skills to develop estimates and assumptions to support the budget.

* Advanced experience and/or skills to develop and review complicated, multi-year, multi-funded projects budget in accordance with sponsor guidelines.

* Demonstrated knowledge of grant funding processes and procedures

* Demonstrated experience and/or skills to review and analyze budget variances from actual expenditures and to forecast.

* Demonstrated experience and/or skills creating and formating spreadsheets and databases using relative cell references and pivot tables for presentation.

* Demonstrated organization skills to set work priorities with pressure of deadlines.

* Statistical skills to compile, analyze, and present financial data in a clear and concise format.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to understand and appropriately respond to multiple and frequent inquiries, requests, and instructions in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Kuali, DaFIS, PPS, OPTRS, DS, ehr, PeopleSoft, UC Path, etc.

* Knowledge or ability to understand University fund accounting, generally accepted accounting principles and government auditing standards.

* Degree in business administration/accounting.

* CRA certification or intention to obtain certification.

* Knowledge of University contracts/grants, financial, accounting and payroll policies and procedures.
