POSITION SUMMARY:

Registered nurse demonstrates independence in planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with the NH Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, clinical and administrative policies. The LNA Educator provides staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Each supports the development of the bedside LNA, and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based LNA practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in planning, directing, and the provision of nursing care to the patients in accordance with the N.H. Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, and clinical and administrative policies.

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Conducts needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools
* Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs
* Coordinates orientation of new staff to the organization
* Develops, plans, prepares and maintains evidence-based education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation and evaluates the effectiveness
* Provides educational opportunities and teaches content as needed that benefit LNA and staff at all stages of their career development (which include remediation, certification, mentoring, life support, JCAHO requirements, product roll-outs, etc.)
* Delivers competence based programs for LNA staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge
* Serves as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development
* Identifies and recruits internal and external resources (nurse, doctor, other specialists) for educational activities

QUALIFICATIONS Education Required and/or Preferred:

Licensure/Certification:

Current Registered Nurse License in New Hampshire or compact state * NH BOARD OF NURSING TRAIN THE TRAINER COURSE
PER NH BOARD OF NURSING INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS, NUR704.06 LNA INSTRUCTORS APPROVAL REQUIRED

Experience:

* Two years in long term care (skilled nursing facility)

* Preferred Higher education teaching

* Preferred experience with classroom and/or online teaching
