About the team:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Automation and Tools Engineer to work in the Delivery Automation and Release Engineering team within Blue Shield of California. This team collaborates with both Business and IT teams to support the portfolio to product model transition by enabling Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. The senior automation engineer will have the opportunity to work with multiple teams to contribute to the DevOps and DevSecOps journey.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines and tooling/automation frameworks
- Set up and maintain integrations among SDLC tools
- Provide technical support on tooling/automation issues
- Implement SDLC tooling process
- Support SDLC tools upgrade and maintenance
- Create and maintenance test cases / test framework for tools and automation solutions
- Author technical documentation of workflows/processes/best practices
- Explore new tools to support simplification and modernization of SDLC process
- Present and participate in automation solution reviews
- Create technical design documents and review with stakeholders
- Communicate automation development progress and execution status
- Perform root cause analysis and deliver resolution for tools and automation failures
- Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack - hardware, software, applications and network
- Work and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- 3+ years' Experience in Java
- Ability to lead technical teams through the design and implementation of automation
- Deep understanding of modern Web, SOA/Microservice and Cloud Native architecture.
- 2+ years of experience in creating Pipeline as Code and shared libraries (Jenkins, Groovy)
- 1+ years of experience in implementing Cloud based DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code
- 1+ years of experience in rolling out container-based solutions (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating system and proficient in writing shell scripts.
- Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
- Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases
- Ability to implement engineering best practices and techniques (Trunk Based Development, Test Pyramid, Feature Toggles, Blue-Green Deployment)
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced agile development setup.
- Industry certification is a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience (required)
