Part-time Senior Transportation Planner

Dewberry is looking for a candidate with a BS in Transportation Management, Civil Engineering, or a related area, and at least 15+ years of experience in transportation research or planning. Qualified candidates should be familiar with public transportation planning, including the assessment, analysis and planning of multimodal transportation operations and facilities for public and private entities.
Candidate should be capable of developing multimodal plans, technical reports, specifications, guidelines and policies related to public transportation services for clients. Experience in project management, budgeting, preparation of technical and cost proposals, QA/QC procedures is also desirable. Good oral and written skills are a necessity.

Responsibilities

Manage tasks and provide guidance and supervision to staff to complete assignments and projects. Reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Prepares proposal elements to provide professional services.

Required Skills & Required Experience

- BS in Transportation, Civil Engineering, or related area is required.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in public transportation planning.
- Past experience with public transportation systems is required.
- Development of planning and research projects related to public transportation systems operations, vehicles and facilities required.
- Working knowledge of Transportation Planning principles and practices as applicable to public transportation operations, facilities, vehicles, corridor studies and and feasibility studies.
- Benchmarking, analysis, evaluation and recommendations related to transportation programs and policies.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
- Determine scope of work and prepare man-hour estimates for transit planning tasks.
- Quality control oversight for all aspects of transit planning tasks.
- Maintain good employee relations and project communication with both internal and external clients.
