Job Purpose
Enersys is a world leader in battery and stored energy solutions with its headquarters and engineering team located in Reading, Pa. The engineering organization is expanding with a cross disciplinary systems engineering team coordinating and driving new projects. Individuals with a broad knowledge base and experience with product lifecycles including requirements management, risk analysis/mitigation, and verification / validation are encouraged to apply.
The candidate is expected to be an expert in control systems design including simulation with Simulink, and implementation in hardware. Primary focus will initially be on control and model development for lithium ion battery systems and power electronics. Knowledge of typical testing and analytical tools used during plant model and simulation development is required providing leadership and direction. This mixed with a broad cross disciplinary background allows the candidate to offer constructive feedback during design reviews and consulting expertise when required by product development teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Hands on testing and characterization of control loops on prototype hardware including wire harnessing, instrumentation, and interfacing with embedded PCBs.
- Direct utilization of ETAS based Hardware-In-Loop (HiL) systems to automate testing.
- Aid in the optimization and implementation of control strategies using standard microcontrollers and DSPs.
- Propose novel new concepts and ideas for new product developments
- Mentor and guide design engineers
- Communicate with project stakeholders and manage requirements and schedules for the product developments
- Decompose complex systems into manageable pieces and delegate them to appropriate design teams and test laboratories (both internal and external)
- Perform risk management activities such as FTA, FMEA and HAZOPs
- Coordinate and attend design / gate reviews ensuring required deliverables meet design quality standards
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
- Masters Degree is preferred
- 3 years of related experience
- Strong modelling and simulation background using tools such as Simulink and dSPACE
- Strong analytical background using data analysis tools such as Python, R, and Matlab
- Hands on experience implementing control systems using both model based exports and C code on embedded targets
- Project Management Skills
