A Brief Summary of This Position:

This position requires a self-motivated, energetic, and talented communications professional with experience writing and managing internal and external business communications. Reporting to the company's VP of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, the position requires an eagerness to tackle the challenges of developing and managing high-quality content designed to drive consistency within corporate and segment messaging, enhance the Company's reputation and increase employee engagement. This Individual C Contributor position will also work closely with the corporate Human Resources and Global Marketing teams to ensure alignment on goals and objectives and a consistent, team approach to all communications.

Responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of corporate communications, ensuring the company's messages are consistent, engaging and aligned with the Valmont corporate and business segment strategies. The position's primary duties will include creating and communicating informative content for a variety of stakeholders across multiple internal and external communication channels. The position's duties will be diverse and multi-faceted, therefore excellent professional skills are vital for this role. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must.

Essential Functions:


  • This position reports to the Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications and has no direct or indirect reports

  • Travel requirements up to 15% both domestic and international with overnight stays

  • Develop external and internal communications content while keeping a schedule of multiple communications that engages and inspires employees

  • Develop, implement and execute a Corporate Communications plan, working with key internal stakeholders and partners, including executive leadership teams, to brainstorm content ideas that are aligned with the company's strategy

  • Research, recommend and implement effective multi-communication channels to streamline internal communication, including current Bulletin Board email and Valmont intranet (VO)

  • Assist with and enhance communication content for sustainability/ESG reporting

  • Perform industry and peer research to develop written communications such as press releases, fact sheets, industry articles, and investor relations website content

  • Manage the company's corporate press release process from development to distribution

  • Provide proof-reading and editing support to ensure all internal and external communication content is publication-ready

  • Support crisis communications planning and response activities

  • Assist with drafting media statements and answering media inquiries on behalf of the Company

  • Work with business segments to develop a database of media and key influencers and maintain records of media coverage

  • Gather and summarize communication analytics and metrics across multiple internal and external channels

  • Adhere to the company's brand guidelines, ensuring copy is high-quality and error free

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):


  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field

  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in similar role

  • Self-starter who can quickly develop and build rapport and relationships across the organization

  • Proven experience creating targeted content

  • Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques

  • Experience developing content strategies

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure

  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities

  • Must have excellent writing and editing skills

  • Strong time-management and organizational skills

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications


  • Experience working in a public company environment and/or corporate investor relations, and executive management teams

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
