POSITION OVERVIEW
Assemblers contribute to Trimble's success by assembling metal and/or plastic components into subassemblies or finished goods while maintaining safety, quality and production standards. The Assembler may work in several assembly locations within the facility, (intricate, pole assembly, final assembly, bipod assembly, or bonding areas) as needed. Trimble requires employees to maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the public to complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assembles parts in accordance with specifications, drawings, or instructions.
* Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, adhesives, or other fasteners.
* Completes bar coded transactions and other documentation legibly, timely, and accurately.
* Assumes active role in ensuring quality results by adhering to instructions and specifications while applying job knowledge. Reports and/or corrects discrepancies in materials or workmanship as they are identified.
* Operates hand and power tools to assist in assembly operation.
* Removes small quantities of material with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
* Prepares items for transportation or to next operation or to storage by packing the item in protective containers.
* Informs Supervisor of job status to facilitate workload scheduling.
* Ensures that work meets the quality and quantity as established by the production standards for the corresponding assembly area.
* May assemble boxes/packaging for assembled items.
* Assumes active role in maintaining a culture of safety, respect and teamwork at all times.
* May be assigned to train and provide quality checks for Assembler.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Two (2) years of college or a certificate specific to the job requirements from a technical school; or equivalent work experience.
* Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
* The ideal candidate must have the ability to add, to subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and to be able to recognize and use both the US standard and metric system of measurement.
* The ideal candidate must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; to reach with hands and arms; and to talk or hear.
* Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to recognize work/product defects.
* Must be able to regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
* Work is always usually performed in a typical industrial/manufacturing environment subject to many interruptions requiring good safety practices to be followed.
* Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
* May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
* May be exposed to extreme heat.
* Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Personal protection equipment is available to the employee and should be worn at all times.
