This position is within the High Density Interconnect, Product Engineering team of MKS Instruments. Specifically, this group designs and develops machines that enable disruptive laser based processing and high-volume manufacturing of rigid circuit boards in the consumer electronics industry. MKS is investing in this product team to accelerate the development timelines of our future products allowing us to quickly capitalize on our successes and expand MKS solutions for our customer base.

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Principal Systems Engineer who can be the technical lead for one of the future products by performing the following duties.

- Provide technical leadership in the design and development of complex laser based system by coordinating cross-functional development activities

- Guide system development activities through, development of requirements, specifications, and test plans

- Analyze and interpret internal and external data

- Define system interfaces and application prototypes

- Track and report technical hurdles and progress to management

- Identify and resolve system design weaknesses

- Influence future products by contributing to the platform architecture roadmap

- Technical resource for customers and field service

What will you bring to the team, along with your curiosity is, an Advanced degree in one of the following fields; Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry. Previous experience in the laser processing of materials, control of laser systems, motion control theory/design, creating system verification and validation test plans. A broad range of expertise is preferred including familiarity with: CAD design, board layout, signal processing, CO2 and UV lasers, optical layout, FEA, FMEA, error budgeting, application software, digital processors, real-time embedded software, FPGA firmware, and calibration algorithms. 10+ years of increasing responsibility within an engineering team.

Travel

Ability to travel internationally and remotely support key MKS customers. Requires appropriate work authorization to freely enter and exit The United States of America, and other primarily Asia Pacific countries. We are interested in a qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we will not sponsor employment visas. Travel may be expected up to 10%.
