JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate RN for our Open Heart Operating Room (CVOR). The person in this position will be an experienced licensed Registered Nurse, who provides patient care as part of a multi-disciplinary team based on national standards and utilizing the nursing process. The Registered Nurse also is responsible for the direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering said patient care. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Open Heart Operating Room (OR), some of your task and responsibilities will be to:

Check chart to ensure all required elements are present and correct prior to moving patient in CVOR.

Complete assessment of cardiovascular, respiratory, and renal status.
*
Demonstrate competency in preparing and cleaning of CVOR suites before and in between cases and after terminal case.
*
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, anesthesiologist and surgical scrubber at all times. Remains in the CVOR unless properly relieved by another RN.
*
Assure all equipment available and functioning prior to patient coming into CVOR.
*
Demonstrate ability to bring PACS imaging up on monitors in CVOR for physician review during procedure.
*
Safely transfer patient from OR table to bed. Assist anesthesia in transporting to CVICU.
*
Give hands off communication report to CVICU RN which includes: procedure, allergies, drains, packs, medications, blood/products, physical and emotional limitations.
*
Ensure the CVOR suite completely set up for procedure before the first scheduled procedure of day.
*
Assist with cleanup of Operating Room between cases to meet OR metrics.
*
Ensure surgical lights, OR table, suctioning machines, and all electrical equipment are functioning appropriately.
*
Demonstrate an understanding of the \\"Right to Know Law\\" and is aware of toxic agents used in the Operating Room.
*
Meet requirements for in call- responding within 30 minutes.
*
Communicate actual/potential infection control concerns to the Infection Control Coordinator in a timely manner.
*
Ensure compliance with OR Surgeon Turn around Time by having the next patient in the CVOR in timely fashion and ready for incision within 35 minutes.
*
Assist with transportation of patient to and from the CVOR.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Florida or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions).
* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and certification.
* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification.
* CNOR preferred.
* Graduate from a school of nursing (ASN) required. BSN preferred.
* Minimum of 1-3 years of experience required.
