Position Summary

* Maine Medical Center's Outpatient Care practice is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to support the Thoracic Oncology Clinic. The Thoracic Oncology Clinic provides a variety of services including thoracic surgery, low dose CT, a multidisciplinary clinic and pulmonary nodule management through our MATRIX program. The MA role supports all functions of the Thoracic Clinic, including rooming, requesting medical records, prior authorizations, exam room maintenance, and clinical support. This individual should posses strong communication skills, the ability to multitask and interest in both clinical and administrative responsibilities. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

* Education: Successful completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited vocational institution or community college.

* License/Certifications: Current BLS required or must be obtained within 3 months from start of employment.

* Experience: Minimum one year's experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.

* Ability to excel in a team-based care environment.

* Working knowledge of continuous process improvement.

* Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staff.

* Ability to organize and accomplish multiple tasks and to have the flexibility to meet changing demands on a daily basis.

* Ability to project a pleasant and professional image even under stressful situations

* Analytical ability required to gather and interpret information necessary to resolve problems.

* Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others

* Proficient computer skills

* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
