This position is accountable for the daily operations of the Department of Clinical Education and the overall management of required types of education for clinical areas across the organization. Utilizing the education process, the manager is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and documentation of orientation and continuing education programs, competencies, and regulatory, mandatory or required types of education. This Manager provides direction for clinical education offerings, state of the art teaching methods, and data management. Educational projects are managed based on the HMH Nursing strategic plan and in alignment with organizational/departmental goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the daily operation and management of the Department of Clinical Education and related staff.
2. Hires, trains, and evaluates, education staff.
3. Demonstrates expertise in the four phases of the educational process: needs assessment, development and design, and delivery of educational offerings, and evaluation.
4. Utilizes data to determine and create offerings, content, learning methods, and strategies for marketing services to the community and other health care organizations.
5. Maintains oversight for education plans and evaluation of programs and program outcomes.
6. Coordinates Clinical Policy development and ensures compliance with regulatory standards (JCAHO, DSC, CMS, SDOH, etc.).
7. Facilitates policy, procedure, and protocol development and revisions, incorporating a standardized format, inclusive of Evidence-Based Practice for internal consistency, as well as standardized cross-indexing/linkages for facilitated end user access.
8. Ensures the efficient flow and processing of policies/procedure/protocols, and their review and endorsement by appropriate stakeholders.
9. Ensures that clinical policies and procedures are integrated into the electronic intranet system and disseminated to appropriate stakeholders.
10. Ensures the appropriate education related to new products is planned, implemented and evaluated, in consideration of regulatory and safety guidelines.
11. Ensures regulatory standards are integrated into all competency related education and appropriately documented.
12. Refers practice issues to the Professional Practice and Executive leadership for appropriate practice changes and incorporation into related clinical policies/procedures, and protocols.
13. Coordinates additional departmental projects as assigned.
14. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Qualifications

Education: Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- ACLS required
- License: Current NJ RN License
- Experience: Demonstrated clinical competence with a minimum of 3 years acute care services experience in Nursing. Prior clinical nursing education preferred. Prior experience in nursing leadership preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Leadership and motivational skills. Critical thinking, program development and project management skills. Skills in group facilitation and/or team building.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and customer services skills.
- Demonstrates emotional maturity and ability to function effectively when under stress.
