Seeking a PATIENT REGISTRAR who provides and facilitates good communication by use of proper telephone etiquette, and forwards information efficiently. This position requires the ability to understand, recall and memorize written and verbal instructions. Good judgment is essential with the ability to function independently and possess problem-solving skills. In addition, the Registrar must accurately schedule radiology procedures, and perform all aspects of patient registration. Includes performing a wide range of secretarial, clerical and receptionist duties. The Registrar must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify the requirements of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient in order to provide the care needed as described in the policies and procedures. Conducting oneself in a professional manner and promoting positive interpersonal relationships are also expected.
WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS ROLE:
1. Responsible for performing all functions of patient admissions including registration, tracking, pre-registration, insurance verification, proper use of Medifax for Medicare/Medicaid patients, and is familiar with and follows hospital policies and procedures established by the Admitting and Financial Departments.
2. Responsible for the proper use of computer system (scheduling exams, patient tracking, arriving, entering orders, canceling and rescheduling exams). Separates batched signed reports and sends to appropriate areas.
3. Demonstrates the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify the requirements of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Takes requests for exams from physicians and/or their office staff by phone. Gives out verbal reports or fax reports as needed.
4. Follows safety policies and procedures applicable to the job, recognizes impending crisis situations and institutes measures (such as adjusting priorities) to prevent further complications and makes a report to their supervisor.
5. Maintains a cooperative and ethical relationship with patients, peers and physicians. Assists others as needed. Demonstrates enthusiasm in performing and accepting work assignments. Consistently works at establishing a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all members of the Imaging Department.

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Current or previous experience in the hospital service role is desirable.
