We are currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager - Data Services.

Job Summary:

Data Direct Networks provides multi-protocol access (Data Services) over its EXAScaler parallel file system. DDN is seeking a technical, hands on software engineering manager to lead the Data Services engineering team to extend and optimize our NFS/SMB/S3 Data Services system. This manager is responsible for planning and execution of the releases and roadmaps, ensuring field issues are resolved in a timely fashion, and ongoing management of the team. This manager serves as the technical leader for development initiatives and actively participates in the architecture, design, development, testing, and delivery of high-quality software.

Responsibilities:

* Lead a multi-site development + QA software engineering team

* Participate in system requirements analysis and high-level system product design

* Lead quality assurance team members on test strategy, test execution, and sustainability

* Plan and execute requirements-based software releases

* Develop, train, coach individual team members

* Set priorities for the team and individual contributors

* Develop and promote software engineering best practices and processes

* Collaborate with leaders of other engineering and cross functional groups

* Interface with customers on requirements, new features, and issues

* Communicate technical information to various audiences, including engineering team members, executive management, support engineers, and customers

Qualifications for this role are:

* 5+ years of software development experience in high-performance, distributed, highly-available data storage systems

* 3+ years of technical leadership

* Strong knowledge of file system protocols, especially NFS and SMB.

* Strong knowledge of S3.

* Understanding of authentication systems used in file systems (Active Directory, Kerberos, LDAP)

* Experience executing a software development program, from requirements analysis, through QA, to final release.

* Demonstrated ability to balancing long-term strategy with short-term project goals.

* Ability to innovate, prioritize and multi-task.

* BS or MS in Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or comparable experience (graduate degree is preferred).
