Job Summary

To assist Registered Occupational Therapists by treating patients with disabilities considering responses as related to the patient s functional adaptation to the environment. Assists in routine clerical responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Applies knowledge of normal developmental expectations in motor, sensory, percepto-cognitive, & psycho-social aspects of play, self-care and work .

* Meets competency expectations in explaining symptoms and prognosis for diagnostic groups with disruptions in performance.

* May evaluate self-care skill performance. Re-evaluates performance in work or play using procedures requested by supervising OTR for which proficiency has been established.

* Identifies & prioritizes time realistic functional goals for remediation, compensation and adaptation of deficits in self-care in consideration of child s age, culture, roles, family concerns and environment.

* When provided with long term goals and performance component deficits for play & work limitations, establishes appropriate short term goals.

* Selects, utilizes and evaluates the effectiveness of appropriate treatment methods using principles of activity analysis for grading physical, perceptual-cognitive, and psycho-social demands to produce an optimal mesh of child s abilities to meet demands.

* Makes discharge recommendations to supervising OTR.

* Communicates effectively with patients, families, & team in oral and written formats in both formal and non-formal situations.

* As designated in competency expectations, assists in training others. This may include Aides, and students.

* Takes responsibility for seeking supervision and/or consultation in relationship to clinical performance. Actively contributes to improvement plans effectively utilizes feedback.

CERTIFICATION

*

AHA BLS Provider Certification required. Ceritified Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
