The Staff Research Associate (80% position) is part of a multidisciplinary team in a large behavioral science laboratory focused on language development in children, adolescents, and adults with fragile X syndrome, autism, and Down syndrome.

will be responsible for four functions that require previous experience transcribing expressive language samples using child language conventions in a research or clinical setting, experience coding behavior in research (either live or form video and audio recordings), excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The four functions are (1) listening to and transcribing digitally recorded audio samples of expressive language produced by children, adolescents, and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities according to a predetermined set of linguistic conventions using specialized software (SALT); (2) coding prepared transcripts or audio- or video-recorded interactions for various communication functions and behaviors following well-defined procedures and operational definitions; (3) checking testing protocols and entering data for analysis, including from multiple collaborating sites; and (4) assisting with preparation of reports of findings to be presented at scientific conferences and submitted for publication in peer-review journals.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor s degree in psychology, education, communication disorders, linguistics, or related field and/or equivalent work experience

* Experience transcribing spoken language samples according to child language research/clinical conventions

* Experience with recruitment in a research study setting

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Experience with recruitment in a research study setting

* Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a multidisciplinary team

* Evidence of some background in research, either through formal coursework or work in a behavioral research lab
