Job Description


  • Monitors and controls computer operations, file servers, peripherals, and off-line equipment for the computer operating environment.

  • Monitors and ensures timely and efficient processing of production requests through computer systems.

  • Monitors and controls one or more computers by operating the central console of online terminals.

  • Assists in testing and debugging new systems and programs to ensure that the delivery of new product met client requirements.

  • Oversees the running of computer systems and maintains the data center environment to ensure delivery of computer backups and restorations in a timely and efficient manner.

Computer Operations – Knowledge of and the ability to conduct daily operational activities in a data center, in order to provide IT services in business cases.

Database Backup and Migration – Knowledge of and the ability to store and transfer an organization's data effectively, in order to meet business needs.

Information Security Management – Knowledge of and the ability to manage the processes, tools, techniques and practices for assuring adherence to standards associated with accessing, altering and protecting organizational data.

IT Incident Management – Knowledge of and ability to investigate, troubleshoot, resolve and prevent the recurrence of incidents that interfere with the normal delivery of IT services.

Production Control – Knowledge of and ability to use production scheduling in order to control and maintain organizational production and service deliverables.

Remote/Mini Data Center Management – Knowledge of and ability to manage a remote data center's operating environment and daily operational requirements.

System and Console Operations – Knowledge of and ability to operate computer systems to run production and development processes and to perform system maintenance related tasks.

System and Technology Integration – Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems, and the ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.

Technical Troubleshooting – Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques, and the ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree with < 1 year of professional experience and/or successful completion of a formal development program. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
