Under the direction of the Charge RN, the environmental observation associate rounds on unit observing potential risks in the psychiatric environment that have been identified in a risk assessment. Checklist documentation will be completed and any identified environmental risks or patients observed at risk in the environment will be reported to the Charge RN or PSM.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* 1. 1. Completes Environmental Rounds per time requirements 1.1 Rounds on units as assigned at assigned time intervals. 1.2 documents on checklist status of environmental risks 1.3 Reports to charge RN any identified environmental concerns. 1.4 Notify nursing staff as needed patient safety observations. 2. Ensures patient safety and dignity during assigned shift 2.1 Maintains continues visual contact of patient at all times as assigned 2.2 Ensures safety by being alert and attentive to detail at all times 2.3 Is able to verbalize reason for patient observation and potential environmental risks 2.4 Ensures proper handoff to other environmental observation associates

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 6 months' work experience or a college internship program, preferably in a Healthcare/Human Services setting

HOURS

Temporary Part time Evenings working 24 hours/week with every other weekend.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Able to uphold Standards of Professional Behavior. Able to work in a locked setting. Able to work in a team. Attention to detail is vital. Prolonged walking and standing through the work shift

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Must be able to walk consistently throughout shift.
